No one ever wants to find a cockroach in their home or business. Unfortunately, finding an adult cockroach isn’t your only problem. If you find cockroach eggs, you could have a serious infestation on your hands.

Learn the necessary steps to take to identify cockroach eggs and prevent yourself from suffering a full-scale roach infestation.

Finding Cockroaches vs. Cockroach Eggs

You may think that finding cockroach eggs is better than finding cockroaches in your building. However, this is far from the truth. While adult cockroaches may look unsightly and leave you feeling squeamish, they are less alarming than cockroach eggs.

You could have a few cockroaches and not have an infestation. But if you find cockroach eggs, it’s likely that you have an infestation and need to take immediate action. The longer you wait to take action, the worse your problem will become.

The German Cockroach Life Cycle

Adult female cockroaches lay thick egg cases known as oothecae. Each six to nine-millimeter egg case contains not just one, but multiple eggs.

Although German cockroaches drop their oothecae and leave them behind, other species of cockroaches carry their eggs around until they hatch. This makes it harder to determine whether or not you have an infestation.

The oothecae case is extremely sturdy protecting it for being damaged or destroyed by predators. Generally, it takes between 24 and 38 days for the eggs in one case to hatch. Each ootheca contains as many as 48 eggs. After the eggs hatch, you could have hundreds of roaches in your home.

A female lives up to 30 weeks, and in that time, has the potential to make thousands of roaches. It only takes about 103 days for each egg to become an adult cockroach. With such a short timeline to maturity, a German cockroach egg case has the potential to quickly cause damage.

What Should You Do If You Find Cockroach Eggs?

If you find cockroach eggs in your home or business, don’t hesitate to act. You need to fight back and kill off the cockroaches before they ruin your property.

There are several ways you can get rid of a cockroach infestation. However, not all of those methods are in your best interest. If you rely on a pest control company to remove the pests, you’ll end up with harmful chemicals in your home. Until those chemicals clear, you may need to stay elsewhere or close your business.

When you rely on Cryonite, you safely eliminate an infestation and can regain control of your property. The Cryonite machine uses a blast of chilled air to kill cockroach eggs and cockroaches. Because it uses no harmful chemicals, the machine does not contaminate your air or your property.

Furthermore, it’s easy to use. With a little training, anyone has the ability to operate Cryonite. If you have the machine on-hand, you can immediately get started on eliminating your unwanted guests.
